JR is the owner of Carlisle Educational Services. He spent 15 years as a band/choir director and 5 years as a high school principal. His ensembles consistently received superior ratings at State concert and marching band festivals.

His Federal Hocking Marching Band was a Sudler Shield Winner. He has directed several WGI Regional Finalist color guards, National Semifinalists color guards and drum lines, as well as a national finalist drum line.

JR holds a BA in Music Education from Marshall University, an MA in Education Leadership from West Virginia University, an MBA in Organizational Leadership from Ashford University, and is currently pursuing his Doctorate in Education from Grand Canyon University.

A founding member of the Tri State Circuit for the Pageantry Arts, he is currently the chief judge for the CIPA indoor circuit and the Nebraska Bandmasters Association. He has judged for WGI, DCI, and BOA in 38 states. He also has adjudicated Drum Corp Europe’s Championships and the drum corps competition in Kyoto, Japan. He resides in Greenville, SC.
