The Live Oak High School marching band from Morgan Hill, California, under the direction of Mike Rubino, was the champion of the first Marching Bands of America National Championship in 1976. Now retired from Live Oak, Mr. Rubino is an adjudicator for Bands of America, as well as for Drum Corps International.

In the area of education, Mr. Rubino’s career has spanned from a start-up, award-winning high school music program to cultural music exchanges exposing over 800 students to diverse cultures, to elementary music education.

As a composer and arranger, Mr. Rubino has prepared more than 100 arrangements and original compositions. A tireless advocate for music education, Mr. Rubino has designed and implemented an elementary music program that has proven to be highly successful in teaching 4th through 6th grade students the basic elements of music. Currently, every elementary student in the Morgan Hill Unified School District is exposed to music through his efforts.
