Scott Oliver is a band director at Neuqua Valley High School in Naperville, Illinois. Scott grew up in Naperville and attended the neighboring Naperville Central High School. He attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for his undergraduate degree in Music Education. He has also earned a Master’s Degree in Music Education from VanderCook College of Music.

Prior to his time at Neuqua Valley High School, Scott was the Assistant Director at Marian Catholic High School in Chicago Heights, Illinois from 2014-2019. At Marian Catholic, Scott assisted with the award-winning marching band, led the Concert Band, and reestablished the jazz program, leading two jazz ensembles.

Scott has also been involved in Drum Corps International for many years. He is an alum of both the Colts Drum and Bugle Corps and Carolina Crown. After marching, Scott was on the brass staff for the Madison Scouts from 2010-2017 where he served as the brass caption head from 2015-2017.

Scott is returning for his 7th year working with the staff of the Drum Major Institute at the Summer Symposium in 2022. He is honored to work with such receptive students and such a passionate and caring staff.
