Melanie Glazer

Glazer, Melanie

Melanie Glazer (Gnadenhutten, OH) has 26 years of experience at Indian Valley Local Schools and is designated as an Ohio Master Teacher. She currently serves as the choral music educator for grades 6-12 and is the Color Guard Advisor for the Indian Valley Marching Braves, specializing in full-ensemble movement and visuals. Her choral program is deeply active in the community, featuring local caroling, performances at community festivals and celebrations, and collaborations with guest artists at the Kent-Tusc Performing Arts Center, reflecting a community-minded approach that is central to her work as an educator. As the Drama Advisor, she has directed more than 15 musical productions and empowers students through the coordination of an annual, student-directed “May Play.” 

Beyond her work in the district, Glazer serves as the Vice President and Education Committee Chairperson for the Tuscarawas Philharmonic Orchestra Board of Trustees and was named the 2023 Arts Educator of the Year by the Tuscarawas Arts Partnership. As a member of the Ohio Music Educators Association, she has been a presenter at the OMEA Professional Development Conference, coordinated district honor choir, and recently received her 25 years of service honor. 

A dedicated collaborator with Music for All, Melanie has been a member of the SWAG Team and a frequent volunteer for BOA Regionals. Her focus on student development extends to her roles as the high school Social-Emotional Learning Coordinator and advisor for “Trust Tribe,” a student-led mental health initiative. Melanie holds a BA in Music Education and a Master of Arts in Education from Muskingum University. In her personal time, she enjoys quilting, card making, and spending time in her family orchard.
