Matt Wood is currently the Assistant Band Director at Rouse High School in Leander, Texas.

Before going to Rouse, Matt was the Assistant Band Director at A&M Consolidated High School in College Station, Texas for two years where he helped the program achieve many successes. These include the band’s first single-digit finish at Area Marching Contest and reinstating the Jazz program on campus, growing it from 9 students in the first year to over 40 the following year.

He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Texas State University with a Bachelor of Music in Music Studies. While a student at Texas State, Matt was awarded the TMEA Collegiate Music Educator Award, an honor given to the finest and most dedicated future music educators across the state.

Since 2019 Matt has served on the staff of the Music For All Summer Symposium and the Music for All National Concert Festival.

Matt is an Eagle Scout and was drawn to giving back to an organization that was integral to his formative years. He serves on the board for a local troop in Round Rock, Texas, and helps the next generation climb the trail to Eagle.

Matt is grateful for the opportunity to continue to grow as an educator and person under the guidance and mentoring of Dr. Mary Ellen Cavitt, Dr. Tim Rhea, Tom Bennett, Cindy Lansford, Ryan Johnstone, Gino Cipriani, Jarrett Lipman, Jerrell Horton, and Keith Lancaster, all of whom have supported his development as a teacher.
