Matt Wood (Round Rock, TX) Matt Wood is the Director of Bands at Ridgeview Middle School in Round Rock, Texas. The band program offers a musical outlet to students within the Cedar Ridge learning community with three concert bands and a jazz program. Beyond the classroom, Matt serves throughout the year at Music for All events, including the Bands of America Summer Camp, Music for All National Festival, and Bands of America Championships.
Before his current role, Matt served as a high school band director in the College Station and Leander Independent School Districts. His educational journey began at Texas State University, where he graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Music in Music Studies. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Texas at Tyler.
In recognition of his exceptional dedication to music education, Matt was honored with the TMEA Collegiate Music Educator Award in Spring 2018. This prestigious award acknowledges his commitment to shaping the future of music education in the state of Texas.
Matt remains deeply grateful for the guidance and mentoring provided by esteemed educators and mentors such as Dr. Mary Ellen Cavitt, Dr. Tim Rhea, Dr. Jeremy Earnhart, Tom Bennett, Richard Saucedo, Michael Pote, Ryan Johnstone, Jarrett Lipman, Cheryl Floyd, and Jerrell Horton. Their support has been instrumental in his growth as both an educator and an individual.
