Ken Turner (Apalachin, New York) has a long and active history in the field of music education. During his career, he has served as a band director, director of music, clinician, music arranger, program coordinator, consultant, adjudicator, and guest conductor. His high school concert, jazz, and marching bands have won numerous local, state, and national honors. Turner has served as Music and Brass Caption Chairman for Drum Corps Associates, the New York Federation of Contest Judges, and Drum Corps International (DCI). He has also served as the Judge Administrator for the New York State Field Band Conference as well as DCI. He has been a member of the DCI Task Force, the Drum Corps 2000 Strategic Planning Committee, and the DCI Rules Committee. Turner has served as a clinician and adjudicator at numerous national and international musical events in North America, Europe, and Japan. He has also served as an adjudicator for several national and international band organizations, including Music for All. Turner was Director of Music for the Johnson City Central School District in Johnson City, New York, which was honored on six occasions by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences as a GRAMMY Signature School and has also been recognized as one of the 100 Best Communities in America for Music Education. Turner recently served for four years on the National Advisory Board for the Partners in Education Program at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC. He has been inducted into the New York State Band Conference Hall of Fame and the DCI Hall of Fame. He is currently President and CEO of ErgoSonic Percussion, originators of the revolutionary Angled Shell Marching Bass Drum.
