Garrett Coffer (Vincennes, IN) serves as the Associate Director of Bands at Lincoln High School, in Vincennes, IN where he conducts the Jazz Band, Symphonic Band and the Percussion Ensemble. Garrett is a dedicated music educator with a profound impact on the marching band and percussion communities in Southern Indiana. With a career spanning over two decades, Garrett has demonstrated unwavering commitment and exceptional skill in cultivating musical excellence among his students. 

Mr. Coffer has served as the Percussion Director for 20 years, where the percussion section has received many top percussion awards during marching season, with many undefeated seasons.   The percussion section has made 16 state finals appearances in the IPA winter circuit, with one state finals championship in 2021. His approach to percussion education emphasizes technical precision, musicality, and ensemble cohesion. 

Though he has only been the Associate Band Director for the past 8 years, Garrett has help led their marching program to 14 state finals appearances, showcasing his ability to inspire and elevate his students to the highest levels of performance. His tenure as Band Director is marked by innovative show designs and a passion for music education that resonates with both students and audiences alike. 

Garrett’s influence extends beyond his home program as he regularly serves as a guest educator and clinician for bands across Southern Indiana.  Garrett is known for his ability to bring out the best in young musicians, regardless of their starting skill level. Throughout his career, Garrett’s dedication to music education and his ability to nurture talent have made a lasting impact on countless young musicians, preparing them for future endeavors both within and beyond the realm of music.
