Jason Derting

Jason Derting (Fredericksburg, VA) began judging for Winter Guard International (WGI) in 2017 and has over 20 years experience judging marching band and indoor winter guard. He judges Equipment and Design Analysis for WGI. Derting began judging in 2006 for the Atlantic Indoor Association in Equipment and currently judges Design Analysis and Movement. He currently serves as the Chief Judge/Judge Coordinator for the Atlantic Indoor Association, a position he has held since 2021.
Derting is heavily active and involved in judging for the Virginia Marching Band Cooperative and other marching band contests across the country. His marching experience included Chimeras Independent Winterguard and Infinity Winter Guard. He is thankful for his experience teaching Fred J. Miller clinics during the summers 2002 through 2004. He has experience working with various color guard programs in Virginia and Tennessee.
Derting resides in Fredericksburg, Virginia, with his wife and two daughters. Derting has a long career as a Physical Therapist Assistant, currently working with Amedisys Home Health and working as a Clinical Rehab Liaison with Encompass Rehab Hospital.
