Chris Ferrell (Atlanta, Georgia) is the Supervisor of Instrumental Music for the Cobb County School District in metropolitan Atlanta, Georgia. The Cobb County School District has been named one of the Best Communities for Music Education 21 times and over 34,000 students in the district are involved in performing arts activities within the district. Before moving to administration, he taught at Hillgrove High School in Cobb County, as well as at L.D. Bell High School, Harwood Junior High School, and Central Junior High School in Texas. Ferrell holds the Doctor of Philosophy of Instrumental Music Education and the Master of Education of Music Education from Auburn University, and a Bachelor of Music degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Ferrell has received multiple Citations of Excellence from the National Band Association and holds memberships in Phi Beta Mu International School Bandmaster’s Fraternity, NAfME, NBA, CBDNA, and GMEA. He is active as a clinician and evaluator for Music for All, as well as having conducted and performed as a soloist with honor groups at the local and state levels, as well as university ensembles across the United States. Ferrell is married to Shelley Ferrell, a band director at Lovinggood Middle School, and is father to three wonderful children, Katherine, Madailein, and Mason.
