Chad Kohler (Fishers, IN) Chad Kohler currently serves as the Director of Bands at Fishers High School. Kohler directs the Fishers Marching TIGER Band and Percussion Ensembles. He also coordinates the International Baccalaureate/AP music theory and music history curriculum. The Fishers Marching TIGER Band has been a consistent ISSMA State finalist. The TIGER band has also been a consistent Bands of America Super Regional Finalist and Grand National Championships Semi-Finalist. The Marching TIGER Band was recently selected to perform at the 2023 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. His ensembles have been a consistent Winter Guard International (WGI) World class national finalist including three National Championships in 2022, 2019, and 2018. Kohler also arranges and adjudicates across the country, providing educational feedback for ensembles and their directors.
Kohler received his Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance and Education from the University of Kentucky, studying under the direction of James B. Campbell. Kohler received his Master’s degree in Music Theory and Composition from Akron University while studying with Director Dr. Larry Snider.
Kohler has performed with and instructed The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps, served as Percussion Caption Head for the Bluestars Drum and Bugle Corps, and is currently an active adjudicator. He has also performed with the Akron Symphony Orchestra. Kohler has premiered and performed works at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention. In addition to teaching and performing, Kohler composes and arranges for multiple ensembles throughout the Midwest. He is also an active arranger and adjudicator throughout the United States and abroad.
Prior to Fishers High School, Kohler served as the Percussion Director for Lawrence Central High School. He serves as an Educational Artist with Remo Corporation and other music industry leaders.
Kohler also served on the Board of Directors for the Indiana Percussion Association, the Indiana Chapter of Percussive Arts Society (PAS), and WGI Advisory Board. He is a member of Indiana Music Education Association, National Association for Music Education, and PAS.
