Caio Lopes (Indianapolis, IN) is a Brazilian conductor based in Indianapolis, Indiana. He currently serves as Artistic Director for the Bloomington Chamber Singers, Associate Adjunct Professor at the University of Indianapolis, Chorus Master for the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic, and Music Director at the First United Methodist Church in Columbus. Before coming to the U.S., Lopes worked as a choral director and voice teacher at Guri Santa Marcelina in his home state of São Paulo. In addition to his work with choirs, Lopes has extensive experience in musical theater, serving as music director for numerous Broadway workshop titles at Casa de Artes OperÁria, and as a pianist for professional productions.
In opera, Lopes worked as a pianist and coach at the opera academy at Theatro São Pedro and as assistant music director for the São Paulo State University opera studio during his undergraduate studies. Lopes was one of four conductors selected as an active participant in the 2023 American Choral Directors Association National Masterclass, as well as the 2023 National Collegiate Choral Organization National Masterclasses. Lopes is currently a candidate for the Doctor of Music degree at the Jacobs School of Music, where he also received his Master of Music in choral conducting. He earned his Bachelor of Music degree in conducting from São Paulo State University in Brazil.
