Dr. Chester B. Phillips (Roswell, GA) Chester B. Phillips is a Professor of Music at Georgia State University, where he previously served as Dean of the College of the Arts and Director of the School of Music. Before his administrative appointments, he spent over 20 years as a band director at the middle school, high school, and collegiate levels. His ensembles received honors and accolades, including the Sudler Flag of Honor; performing in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, the 57th Presidential Inaugural Parade, and the Rose Parade; a national top-ten honor by the 2013 College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA); and a top-five honor by the 2012, 2016, and 2020 Southern Division of CBDNA.

As a clinician, Dr. Phillips has presented at numerous state music education conferences, The Midwest Clinic International Band and Orchestra Conference, Bands of America Summer Camp, BOA Regional Championships, College Band Directors National Association, Drum Corps Japan, and Rauman Poikasoittokunta (Youth Band) in Rauma, Finland. Dr. Phillips is a judge for Drum Corps International, BOA, and winter guard circuits, as well as a visual designer of over 250 marching band and winter guard productions.
