Shelba Waldron

Shelba Waldron (Fishers, IN) Shelba Waldron has been deeply involved in the marching arts for decades, beginning her journey with the McGavock High School Band in Nashville, Tennessee. She went on to perform with renowned groups such as Star of Indiana Drum and Bugle Corps and Pride of Cincinnati Winter Guard. Since then, she has built a respected national presence as an adjudicator, instructor, and advocate for healthier training environments across the activity. Shelba has taught and continues to consult with numerous world-class programs, contributing to the growth and success of teams at the highest levels. She currently serves as Senior Director of Safety for Spirit of Atlanta and is on staff with the Noblesville Color Guard (2025 Scholastic Open Medalist).

Professionally, she is the Director of Education and Outreach for USA Gymnastics, where she leads national initiatives in coaching education and development. Her work focuses on raising the standard for safe, effective coaching practices that prioritize athlete well-being. She also consults in the marching arts and cheer communities, helping organizations strengthen their leadership culture and build safer, more intentional training spaces.

Beyond her professional and instructional work, Shelba takes the most pride in her role as a guard and drum corps mom to her son, Joshua.
