Scott Koter retired as assistant superintendent for the Kiski Area School District in 2016 and previously served as a principal and band director in the same district beginning in 1982. His ensembles received numerous honors including appearances at the Midwest Clinic, NAfME, IAJE and PMEA conventions, and captured numerous state and BOA regional titles while being named BOA Grand National finalist seven times and a Grand National class champion two times. Scott received citations for teaching excellence from PMEA, NBA, IAJE as well as Duquesne University, St.Vincent College, and California University of Pennsylvania. During Scott’s teaching and administrative tenure, Kiski HS was named as a Grammy Signature School and the district was named as a Best Community for Music Education by the NAMM Foundation. Scott presently serves as program coordinator for the 2018 DCI World Champion Santa Clara Vanguard of Santa Clara, CA. and previously served in that same role for The Cavaliers of Rosemont, Illinois, winning five DCI world championships during that time. He also serves as a creative consultant for a marching band show design company and as an educational consultant for a drumstick and mallet manufacturer. Scott was inducted into the DCI Hall of Fame in 2015.
