Scott Beck (Atlanta, GA) has dedicated several decades to the marching band and color guard activity, making a significant impact both on and off the field. He has performed with esteemed ensembles such as the Miller’s Blackhawk Winter Guard, Suncoast Sound, and the Crossmen Drum & Bugle Corps, gaining invaluable experience in both competitive and performance settings.

Scott began his teaching career at the Fred J. Miller Clinics, where he spent ten summers as an instructor and served as a camp administrator during his final two years. During this time, he also worked with a variety of high school and independent winter guards, including John Overton High School, Dimension Winter Guard, and South Oldham High School.

After earning his bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education in 2000, Scott moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where he taught first grade while continuing his involvement in the color guard community. He contributed to the success of several well-regarded programs, including Pope High School, Lassiter High School, and Walton High School. From 2010 to 2013, he served as co-caption head and later caption head for both the Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps and the Western Carolina University “Pride of the Mountains” Marching Band.

In 2006, Scott completed a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Kennesaw State University. He currently teaches first grade at Norton Park Elementary School in the Cobb County School District. Alongside his classroom teaching, he remains actively involved in the marching arts as a color guard judge for various winter guard circuits nationwide and as a visual judge for Bands of America.

Through his decades of service as a performer, educator, and adjudicator, Scott has made a lasting impact on the color guard and marching band communities—helping to inspire and shape the next generation of performers and enthusiasts.
