Ryan Lee
Ryan Lee (Sacramento, CA) is an active marching arts instructor, visual designer, consultant, and clinician, having worked with more than 35 competitive ensembles in California, Colorado, and Hawaii. Through these experiences, he has been fortunate to work with and learn from some of the brightest minds in the activity. As an adjudicator, Lee has served as a chief judge, lead visual caption judge, and on multiple circuit, regional, and state championship panels across the country. He currently judges for Bands of America and Winter Guard International’s percussion division. Judging has taken him to more than twenty-five states, serving over thirty circuits/organizations. Lee has had many ties with the Sacramento Mandarins organization as an alumnus, visual instructor for the finalist drum corps, and indoor winds drill designer/choreographer. He was also the former program director for the Mandarins Music Academy, which serves instrumental music classes to over 1,000 students at more than 40 elementary schools in Northern California. Lee was on staff for the marching programs at California State University, Sacramento, and was a regular guest lecturer for the marching band methods course. He was a guest on the Marching Roundtable podcast, was featured in Halftime Magazine, and is a member of the Winter Leadership Team for the Northern California Band Association (NCBA). Lee is also a recipient of the NCBA Elsie Nielson Service Award for outstanding service to music education. Lee holds an associate’s, a bachelor’s, and a master’s degree in business administration with a minor in music. He currently works in the Enforcement Division for the State of California Department of Consumer Affairs.
