
Rick Drewry (Fort Wayne, IN) is a Pro Audio Engineer for Sweetwater specializing in Institutional System Designs and is a percussion educator, clinician, and adjudicator. He celebrates having served eight years as a Percussion Director in Texas, starting as the Assistant Percussion Director for The Woodlands High School in 2017. He has taught nine seasons of professional marching arts, ending that chapter of his career as Front Ensemble Coordinator for The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps from 2017 through 2022. Drewry continues his career in percussion pedagogy serving as a faculty member for the Bands of America Summer Camp Director Academy.
Drewry obtained his undergraduate degree in music education from the University of Tennessee at Martin under the baton of DCI, WGI, and BOA Judge Dr. Nola Jones, and he obtained a graduate degree in percussion performance from the University of Texas at Austin, where he studied with Professor Tony Edward, Principal Timpanist with the Austin Symphony Orchestra; Dr. Thomas Burritt, Marimba Virtuoso; and Professor Jerry Junkin, Director of Bands and Music Director of the Hong Kong Wind Philharmonia and the Dallas Winds. During this time, Drewry performed with The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps from 2012 to 2014 and Music City Mystique in 2014. He also performed at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention twice, in the Marching Showcase (2013) and the International Percussion Ensemble Contest (2016). He also performed at the 2017 College Band Directors National Association Conference with the University of Texas Wind Ensemble.
