Richard L. Saucedo (Fishers, Indiana) Richard L. Saucedo retired in 2013 as Director of Bands and Performing Arts Department Chairman at Carmel High School in Carmel, Indiana. During his 31-year tenure, Carmel bands received numerous state, regional, and national honors. Under his direction, Carmel’s Wind Symphony I performed at the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic in December of 2005 after winning the Bands of America Grand National Championship. The Indiana Bandmasters Association named Saucedo Indiana’s 1998-99 Bandmaster of the Year, and he was named an Outstanding Music Educator by the Indiana Music Educators Association in 2010. He was inducted into the Music for All Hall of Fame in 2015 and into the Drum Corps International Hall of Fame in 2022.
Mr. Saucedo is a freelance arranger and composer, having released numerous marching band arrangements, choral arrangements, concert band works, and orchestral compositions. Along with his work at Hal Leonard Publishing, he is the music ensemble coordinator for the Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps in Concord, California. Mr. Saucedo is an Educational Consultant for Music for All and the Chief Judge Team Leader for Bands of America. He is married to his wife, Sarah, an interior design blogger. His daughter, Carmen, teaches elementary school in Indianapolis, and his son, Ethan, a senior percussionist at Fishers High School, will study architecture at Ball State University in the fall of 2025.
