Matt Savage (Holly Springs, NC) Matt Savage has been passionate about drums and drumming since he was inside his mother’s womb. He has a music education degree from the The Crane School of Music and a Master’s Degree in Percussion Performance from The University of Southern California.
He has been heavily involved in the marching percussion field for 30 years but also has grown very fond of the drum circle activity since 1987. He has facilitated hundreds of drum circles and training classes throughout the United States, England, and even in Moscow, Russia.
He is the founder of Rhythm Alive, a rhythm-based project that helps develop rhythm, timing, and teamwork for various types of organizations including corporate teams, athletic teams, schools and universities, musical organizations, and communities.
Matt has facilitated drum circles for National Association for Music Education Conventions, Percussive Arts Society Conventions, the Orff-Schulwerk National Convention, Bands of America Leadership Symposiums, Glaxo-Smith Cline, The University of North Carolina Women’s Basketball team, and in his family’s living room at Christmas, to name but a few!
Matt is a performing artist for Yamaha Musical Instruments. He lives in Holly Springs, NC and is married to his lovely and talented wife Amy, who is also an accomplished percussionist.
