Kyle Weirich (Elkhart, IN) brings over three decades of experience in instrumental music education, currently serving as the K-12 Music Coordinator for Elkhart Community Schools and Director of Orchestras at Elkhart High School in Elkhart, Indiana.
Since joining Elkhart High School in 2006, Weirich has led the Symphony Orchestra to become a regular Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) state finalist. Under his direction, the ensemble has also been featured at the Indiana Music Educators Association (IMEA) Professional Development Conference and has twice served as a clinic ensemble at The Midwest Clinic.
His contributions have been recognized with numerous honors, including as Elkhart Central’s Teacher of the Year in 2015 and the 2019 Indiana High School Orchestra Teacher of the Year by the American String Teachers Association.
Weirich holds music education degrees from Western Michigan University and VanderCook College of Music. He performed for three seasons with the Star of Indiana Drum and Bugle Corps before beginning his teaching career as Director of Bands at Central Noble, Knox, and East Noble High Schools—programs that consistently qualified for ISSMA state finals under his leadership.
A respected voice in the marching arts, Weirich is a veteran adjudicator with Drum Corps International, Bands of America, Western Band Association, Indiana Percussion Association, and numerous other state and regional circuits, including Michigan, Mississippi, Oklahoma, and South Carolina. He has judged championship events nationwide and continues to serve as a clinician and presenter for organizations such as IMEA.
