Joey Paul has been the Director of Bands for Aledo Independent School District since 1998. Mr. Paul attended Texas Tech University where he received a Bachelor of Music Education in 1992. In 2003, he earned a Master of Education from Texas Christian University. In 2008, he received the Aledo ISD Secondary Teacher of the Year Award at the Marva Collins Teacher Ceremony and was inducted into the Phi Beta Mu International School Bandmaster Fraternity in 2011. In 2013, he was selected as a Top 10 A+ Educator by Fort Worth Texas Magazine, received the Bayard H. Friedman Hero Award, and was chosen as Conn-Selmer VIP. In 2018, a piece was commissioned for Mr. Paul’s 25th year in Aledo entitled “What Greater Calling” by Willie Owens. Recently, Mr. Paul was nominated for the 2019 UIL Sponsor Excellence Award.

Mr. Paul currently conducts the Marching Band and the Wind Ensemble. The Bearcat Regiment has been a UIL State Finalist Marching Band, Bands of America Class Champion, and a BOA finalist multiple times. In 2015, the Aledo HS Wind Ensemble was named the 5A TMEA State Honor Band. The Wind Ensemble has been a National Winner and Commended Winner several times in the Mark of Excellence/National Wind Band Honors Project.

Mr. Paul’s professional affiliations include Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, Phi Beta Mu and National Association for Music Education.

Mr. Paul is married to Karen Paul, a choir director for Aledo ISD. They have four children: Gustin, Tyler, Alyssa and Noella.
