Jo-Michael Scheibe chairs the Department of Choral and Sacred Music at the USC Thornton School of Music. Scheibe has served as National President of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) (2011-2013), Western Division President (1991-1993), and National Repertoire and Standards Chairperson for Community Colleges (1980-1989). Ensembles under his leadership have sung at seven national ACDA conventions, two national conventions of the National Association for Music Education (formerly MENC), the National Conference of the National Collegiate Choral Organization, and the World Choral Symposium in South Korea.

Scheibe has collaborated with Luciano Pavarotti, José Carreras, the Rolling Stones, Sir Elton John, and has prepared choruses for Helmuth Rilling, Sir Colin Davis and the London Symphony Orchestra, Michael Tilson Thomas and the New World Symphony, Carl St. Claire and the Pacific Symphony, Jeffrey Kahane, Jamie Martin of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, and James Judd. Recordings of his ensembles have been released on the Albany, Cane, Naxos, Arsis and ANS labels. New recordings are scheduled to be released in May 2020 of Twentieth Century French Choral Music by Alfred Desenclos and Jean Langlais for Organ and USC Thornton Chamber Singers by Centaur and Naxos Recordings. Music publishers Walton, Colla Voce distribute the Jo-Michael Scheibe Choral Series internationally.

Future engagements include clinics, workshops and guest conductor in Japan, Taiwan, Ireland, and Thailand as well as across the United States. He received his DMA from USC (1985) and earned his BA and MM degrees from California State University at Long Beach.
