Jennifer Drake (Boise, Idaho) draws inspiration from the power of music to connect people, ideas, and communities as a conductor, violist, teacher, clinician, and camp director. Drake is the most enthusiastic musician you will ever meet, known for her versatility, humor, and energy. Drake is the music director of the Serenata Orchestra and the Boise Philharmonic Youth Orchestras and has served as the assistant conductor and principal violist for the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival. Drake has been a guest conductor for the Idaho State Civic Symphony and Opera Idaho. Drake is the Boise Baroque Orchestra’s principal violist and the Boise Philharmonic’s section violist. Enjoying an international chamber music career, Drake performed at the 33rd International Viola Congress in Reykjavik, Iceland, and the International Bass Clarinet Convention in Rotterdam, Holland, as well as concerts in Iceland, Holland, Denmark, Romania, Spain, Italy, Germany, Austria and Canada. Drake is the founder of Idaho Viola Camp and co-artistic director for the Idaho Orchestra Institute. Both camps provide students with unique outdoor experiences and high-quality musical engagement.

Drake is a highly sought-after teacher and clinician known for her infectious energy and ability to engage with ensembles of all levels. Recent All-State orchestras conducted include Texas, Nevada, Indiana, South Carolina, and Minnesota. She has also done Music Education Association clinics in Oregon, Texas, Montana, and Idaho. Drake is also a lecturer for the Osher Institute for Lifelong Learning. Recent awards and honors include winning the 2018 International Conductor’s Workshop and Competition, an Alexa Rose Foundation grant, and a fellowship with the Allentown Symphony for the 2017-18 season. Drake has also been the cover girl for HerLife magazine. When not living the glamorous lifestyle that being a conductor and cover girl must afford, Drake is cruising around in her 1985 Volkswagen camper van, calling the vet for her not-exactly-Corgi dogs Fergus and Cameron, thinking of how to avoid grocery shopping, and planning trips with her husband, Chad Marvin. Drake and Chad climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in January 2016. Drake is a mediocre CrossFitter, cyclist, and hiker and will gladly talk your ear off about any of these endeavors.
