Currently residing in Ohio, Ja’Malh has been a performer and artist for over 17 years His background includes theater, voice, dance, improvisation, and the marching arts.

As a marching arts entertainer, he performed with Onyx (World), beginning in 2008, then returned to the group for the 2012-2016 & 2018-2022 seasons. The 2022 season marked his 11th year as a cast member with this premier organization.

As marching arts instructor and choreographer, Ja’Malh has worked with groups in Indiana, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Texas. This past winter, he taught at Northmont High School and both Onyx color guards. In the summer of 2022, he will go on tour with the Mandarins for his second season.

He started his professional training at Wright State University studying theater and dance with Danita Wallace and John Uber and acting with Bruce Cromer and Shelia Ramsey. He continued his education at The Ohio State University with Rodney Brown and Ester Baker-Tarpaga.

Ja’Malh has had the honor of being a company member of two Ohio dance companies, including S.M.A.G. Dance Collective (Dayton) under the direction of Michael Groomes. He also danced with Mam-Luft & Company Dance (Cincinnati) under the direction of Jeanne Mam-Luft.

During his career, he has trained and taken master classes in dance, and improvisation, and partnered with teachers from all over the nation and world including Vincent Thomas, Derek Stratton of Pilobolus, Kate Jablonski, and Mikey Perkins.

Ja’Malh is extremely honored to be working with the staff and students at the Music for All Summer Symposium.
