Dulce N. Rodriguez (Brownsville, TX) is the Director of Bands for San Benito CISD, where she oversees the district’s middle and high school programs with a commitment to student growth, musical excellence, and equitable access to arts education. She believes music has the power to transform students, strengthen communities, and create lifelong opportunities. This philosophy led her to found the San Benito Flute Fiesta, an annual festival serving more than 200 middle and high school students across South Texas through clinics and master classes with nationally recognized artists.
Rodriguez earned her Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Texas at Brownsville and her Master of Music in flute performance from Texas Tech University. She has performed internationally in Puebla, Mexico, and Pavia, Italy, and studied with Dr. Lisa Garner, Dr. Cristina Ballatori, and Ms. Celeste Canant.
Her students regularly earn top chairs in region and all-state bands, superior ratings at UIL State Solo & Ensemble, and Sweepstakes at UIL Concert and Sight-Reading. She has built a culture of strong fundamentals, high expectations, and student-centered leadership over the past nine years.
An active clinician, performer, and advocate for innovative music education, Rodriguez was the 2024 winner of the National Flute Association’s C.R.E.A.T.E. Project Competition, recognizing forward-thinking and sustainable arts initiatives. She has presented at The Midwest Clinic and Texas Bandmasters Association conventions and serves on National Flute Association (NFA) committees, such as the Nominating Committee and the Youth and Engagement Committee. In 2024, her community flute ensemble performed at the NFA Convention, uniting more than 300 young flutists and educators in celebration of artistry, mentorship, and innovation.
