Dr. John Bell (Lebanon, IL) is currently serving as the director of the Wind Ensemble at McKendree University, in Lebanon, Illinois, and the music and artistic director for the St. Louis Brass Band, in St. Louis, Missouri. He is Professor of Music Emeritus from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, where he served as Director of Bands and Professor of Conducting and Music Education for 30 years. Bell is an elected member of the North American Brass Band Association Board, where his responsibilities have been focused on developing a modern, empirically based adjudication system for their national and regional championships. He was Brass Caption Head for The Cavaliers and the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps and has judged championships for Drum Corps International, Bands of America, and the World Music Festival. He is listed as a Master Judge on the Marching Roundtable Judges Academy register and has adjudicated symphonic and pageantry events throughout the United States, Canada, Japan, and Thailand. An elected member of both the prestigious American Bandmasters Association and the America School Band Directors Association, he has conducted all-state and honor bands in Europe, Taiwan, Washington, Colorado, Tennessee, Illinois, Missouri, Kentucky, Nebraska, California, Wisconsin, and Georgia.
