Dr. Edwin P. Arnold joined the faculty of Grove City College as Director of Bands in the fall of 1975. In 1981, Dr. Arnold was appointed Chair of the Department of Music and Fine Arts. Dr. Arnold retired from Grove City College in August of 2013. During his tenure as Director of Bands and as Department Chair at Grove City College, he also held several senior administrative positions that included serving as Assistant Dean of the College, Executive Assistant to the President, Vice President of External Affairs, and administrative liaison to the Commission on Higher Education. Dr. Arnold also served as Director of the J. Howard Pew Fine Arts Center.

A native of Pennsylvania, Dr. Arnold received his Bachelor of Science in Music Education at Geneva College, a Master of Music Education from Duquesne University, and a Doctorate from the University of Houston. While at the University of Houston, he served on the band directing staff and assisted with the development half time performances in the world famous Astrodome.

Dr. Arnold has been the recipient of numerous awards including those from the Commission on Higher Education, the PA Music Educators Citation of Excellence Award, The Grove City College Campus Community Award for service to the community. He and the college band have been the featured subject in an article entitled “A Success Story” in the Journal of the National Band Association. In May of 2013 Dr. Arnold received the Henry N. Mancini Achievement Award for outstanding contributions to the Musical Enrichment of the Beaver Valley (his birthplace) during his induction into the Beaver Valley Musician’s Hall of Fame.
 Dr. Arnold was elected to membership in the prestigious American Bandmasters Association in 1995. He holds professional membership in the National Band Association, the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association, the Music Educators National Conference, the College Band Directors National Association, and Phi Beta Mu. He is past president of the PA Collegiate Bandmasters Association. He has served as executive-secretary treasurer of the PA Collegiate Bandmasters for over 20 years. In December of 2007, Dr. Arnold was elected to an eight member Board of Directors, for the purpose of founding the International Youth Band of the United Nations. In this position, he has worked with band directors from various countries of the world. Currently he is co- producing and will co-conduct a mass band program for the commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor which took place at Pearl Harbor December 7, 2016.

Dr. Arnold is in demand by bands and orchestras as a guest conductor, clinician and adjudicator for high schools, colleges, festivals, and Military Ensembles throughout the United States and Canada. He was honored in 2011 to serve as conductor of the PA All State Band and in 2012 to serve as guest conductor of the NYSSMA area All State Junior High School Band.
