Dave Gerhart (Long Beach, CA) serves as Artist Relations Partner for Yamaha Corporation of America and is a respected performer, composer, and educator. He holds a D.M.A. in Percussion Performance from USC with emphasis in Music Education, Ethnomusicology, and Music Industry & Technology, along with M.M. and B.M. degrees from California State University, Long Beach.
As a percussionist, Dr. Gerhart has performed under renowned conductors including Gustavo Dudamel and Zubin Mehta and alongside artists such as Yo-Yo Ma, Bobby McFerrin, and the Blue Man Group. He leads the Island Hoppin’ Steel Drum Band throughout Southern California and has recorded with the Robin Cox Ensemble, Steven Hartke, and Gabriela Ortiz.
Dr. Gerhart serves as Vice President, Southern California for the Percussive Arts Society and is recognized for his innovative use of technology in music education. He co-founded DrumChattr.com and currently curates content for PercussionEducation.com, with his work featured in multiple scholarly publications.
A sought-after presenter, he has appeared at prestigious conferences including The Midwest Clinic and PASIC, and has delivered his presentation “Be Marketable! Combining Performance and Entrepreneurship” at major music institutions nationwide, including Eastman School of Music and numerous universities. His compositions and arrangements are published by Bachovich Music Publications, Boxfish Music Publishing, and Living Sounds Publications.
