Chris Moss is the Director of Bands at Pendleton High School in Pendleton, South Carolina, and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from the Florida State University and a Masters Degree in Music Education from Anderson University. Chris has performed in many organizations including the Florida State University Marching Chiefs, the Cadets Drum & Bugle Corps, Paradigm Winter Guard, and Northeast Independent Winter Guard. Previously, Chris served nine years as the Assistant Band Director and Color Guard Caption Supervisor at Byrnes High School in Duncan, South Carolina. Additionally, Chris has served on the brass staff with Capital Regiment Drum & Bugle Corps and the Cadets Drum & Bugle Corps.

Chris studied Trombone with John Sizemore, Matt Anderson, and Dr. John Drew and is currently a member of the Poinsett Wind Symphony.

Chris has been the Director of Bands at Pendleton High School since 2013 and also teaches daily beginning band classes at LaFrance Elementary School. In that time the Pride of Pendleton has been named SC AA State Marching Band Champions in 2013, 2018, and 2019, SC AA Upper-State Marching Band Champions four times, and the BOA Mid-Atlantic Regional Class A Champion in 2017. Additionally, the Pendleton Symphonic Band was selected to perform at the 2020 SCMEA Professional Development Conference.

Chris through his design company, Innovative Visual Concepts, currently serves as drill designer and conceptual consultant for many bands and winter ensembles across the Southeast with numerous honors including Bands of America Regional Finalists, South Carolina Marching Band State Champions, Winter Guard Scholastic Circuit Champions, WGI Regional Finalists and Champions, and WGI World Championship Finalists.

Chris is currently a member of the South Carolina Band Directors Association and the National Association for Music Education while being a National Board Certified Educator. He has received a Citation of Excellence and the Certificate of Merit for Marching Excellence from the National Band Association. He also currently serves as an Adjudicator for Drum Corps International and Bands of America and has attended the WGI Judge’s Academy.

Chris is married to Dr. Alison Starr-Moss, has two daughters, Lily and Evie, and two dogs: Schatzi and Hamilton.
