Andrew Hunter is both a performer and a music educator. He holds his Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Western Illinois University and a Master’s of Music Education from VanderCook College of Music. Andrew has taught at Wauconda Middle School since 2007. At WMS his responsibilities include 6th Grade Beginning Band, 8th Grade Band, Jazz Band, assisting with 7th Grade Band, and lessons on all wind and percussion instruments.

In addition to teaching, Andrew can be heard performing regularly with the Chicago Gargoyle Brass and Organ Ensemble, with whom he has recorded numerous critically-acclaimed albums, as well as the Chicago Wind Symphony. He was also a member of the Chicago Brass Band for nine years, where his playing was reviewed as “truly outstanding, handling difficult, pianissimo high entries easily, and time and again delivering flawless, gorgeous sound and great musicality.” In addition to his work with the CBGO and CWS, Andrew finds time to perform with the Big Top Circus Band and many other ensembles throughout the Chicago area.

When not performing or teaching, he can be found on his bicycle or building Lego with his wife and two daughters.
