Francis Favis is a freelance percussionist from Central Illinois. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance from Illinois State University, where he performed with the Percussion Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, and Wind Symphony (where he was a featured soloist). While at ISU, Francis had many opportunities to perform in other festivals and events, such as the REDNOTE New Music Festival, Illinois Day of Percussion, and the Twin City Band Festival. He also had the chance to work with several guest artists and composers, such as Andy Harnsberger, Greg Beyer, John Kilkenny, Paul Dooley, Roy Magnuson, and Sydney Hodkinson. Francis has also performed with the Illinois Wesleyan Civic Orchestra, Heartland Festival Orchestra, Pioneer Drum and Bugle Corps, and Cavaliers Indoor Percussion. In addition to teaching privately, he is a percussion instructor at University High School and Bloomington High School. His teachers include David Collier, Ben Stiers, Tim Delaney, Kyle Johnson, Joe Roach, Jesse Backes, Josh Mitchell, and Kenji Okubo. In the fall, Francis will be attending George Mason University to pursue a Master’s Degree in Music Performance.
