Dr. Michelle Bluford is currently in her 20th year in the Elkhorn Public School District. Prior to teaching in Elkhorn, Michelle spent six years for Ponca Public School and six years at Omaha Benson. Her title at all three schools was Director of Instrumental Music. Her Concert Bands, Jazz Bands and Orchestras have performed at the regional, state and national levels.
In her 32 years of teaching, Michelle has had numerous All – State Band/Orchestra/Jazz Band members. Her bands, orchestras, and jazz bands have consistently earned Superior Plus and Superior ratings at District Music Contest, state and regional competitions.
Dr. Michelle Bluford received her Bachelor of Music Education from Morningside College, her Masters in Music Education and Doctorate in Ethic Studies from Covington Theological Seminary.
She is an active clinician and adjudicator throughout the Midwest. She has served on the staff of the 402 Indoor Drumline. Michelle was blessed to guest conduct the Nebraska Wind Symphony on the April Concert in 2019 and is now a member of that ensemble. She is also a staff member of the Nebraska Ambassadors of Music and has conducted one of the bands for that European Tour since 2007. Michelle is a member of NSBA, NMEA, and EEA. She has served as the NMEA Band Affairs Chair, the NSBA President, Secretary and Concert Band Festival Chair. She was a member of the Sioux City Symphony for 30 seasons. In 2016 and 2018 Michelle was invited by Fran Kick to be a special guest for the Music For All Leadership Training Weekend Experience.
