Matthew Lyon is the recently tenured Associate Professor of Music at Ball State University. Previously the Special Instructor of Low Brass at the University of Windsor, he holds a Master’s of Music degree from Depaul University, a Bachelor of Music Performance degree from The University of Michigan, and is a graduate of the Interlochen Arts Academy.

Professor Lyon has performed recitals and held master classes in Colombia-South America, China, Canada, Austria, and throughout the United States including Washington D. C., Texas, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, and New York. He has been a featured soloist with the Interlochen Arts Academy Band, the Ball State Symphony Orchestra, and at the American Bandmasters Association Conference. In addition to teaching at Ball State University, Professor Lyons is on faculty at the Interlochen Low Brass Institute, and a juror and faculty member of the Filharmonica Joven de Colombia in South America.
