Christy (Santangelo) Heber has been teaching bassoon for 24 years. Originally from Virginia, she earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from East Carolina University and has completed post-graduate work at Shenandoah University and Old Dominion University. Christy has taught middle school orchestra and band while maintaining an active bassoon studio over the years. In Virginia, she was a member of various groups including the Virginia Wind Symphony, Virginia Beach Symphony, and Tidewater Winds, and performed with visiting Broadway shows in Roanoke and Norfolk, VA.

Christy moved to Indiana 11 years ago and absolutely loves it. She was an assistant band director at Creekside Middle School in Carmel for two years and currently maintains a large bassoon studio consisting of students in Carmel, Noblesville, and surrounding areas. In addition, she founded and directs the bassoon ensemble, aka the Varsity Bassoon Team at Carmel High School. She is also contracted by several band programs to teach double reed classes. Over the years, Christy’s groups have consistently earned Superior ratings at festivals and her bassoon students have earned positions in honors, district, regional, and All-State bands.

In her free time, Christy enjoys running, cycling and enjoying all the great outdoors has to offer.
